It's good to be different!

Today in Class 2, we listened to the story, 'The Hueys in The New Jumper' by Oliver Jeffers and talked about how we are all different, we do different and that is good!

Then we all made our own Huey and made sure he was different from everyone else's.

We gave our Huey a face.

Then we found him a jumper, gave him a name and decided what our Huey was good at.

We drew lots of different hats first to decide which would be the best design for our Huey.
Then we discussed how we could turn our designs into a hat for our Huey and had a go at making it.

Don't our Huey's look fantastic! Ms Jones was most impressed because everyone had a try. We all have a named peg in our class to hold our wow things.

Our Huey's are staying in school to look after our class over the summer and in September they will be our thinking buddies. Wow, look at this amazing top hat made with excellent DT skills!

Pinocchio, mini beasts and books!

What a busy week it's been in class 2! We started our week with Mrs Baker and lots of practical maths exploring measuring. We had fun weighing out pasta, rice and vegetables and estimating how heavy they might be.

On Wednesday we had a visit from a travelling theatre company and enjoyed a excellent production of Pinocchio, there was lots of well known music in the show and we all enjoyed singing along to a certain well know Frozen hit!

Thursday started with our usual swimming lesson, we also went on a mini beast hunt and found lots of snails, spiders and worms.
In the afternoon we had whole school story time, lots of us enjoyed David Walliams new book which was read by class 2's new teacher Mrs Sullivan.

Don't forget tomorrow we are celebrating World Book Day with a crayon themed dressing up, we are looking forward to a rainbow coloured classroom.

Penguin day!

Classes 1 and 2 have been having a penguin day today, it was lovely for the younger children to work with the older ones.

In literacy we read

Then we wrote our own versions.

In maths we drew penguin houses and then estimated how many blocks of ice would be needed to make them.

Cookery was making penguin biscuits, we did lots of weighing and mixing then we shared the mix out between everyone.

After all of that we made penguin mosaics and thumbprint penguins.

We are really pleased with the end result!

We even had some penguin weather !
